They were an ancient herding breed in Hungary, and have been for the past 1000 years. Their ancestors were brought into the country by Magyars. The breed was almost wiped out in its early years, but was brought back due to a few dedicated breeders.
- Their “dread locks” start to form at 12 months, but don't actually form until the dog is 3 or 4 years old.
- Their lines can be traced all the way back to the 11th century!
