The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, named after King Charles II, has been featured throughout history in paintings and tapestries. These paintings and tapestries were of the dog with their family, and showed how the dog was for upper-class families only. They had easy lives as housepets. They did hunt small, shooting game but they were always meant to be companions and housepets.
-Spaniels originated in Spain, hence their name, but most modern breeds were developed in England and America
-The Cavalier was featured on the hit HBO series, "Sex and the City", as Charlotte York's dog.
-The Cavalier became fully recognized by the AKC in January 1996.
